The Anatomy of a Couple Meal

They say that you know you've found the right one when your appetite is great with your other half. I guess that's why the term 'relationship weight' earns its right. Part of it is psychology, but a part of it is science, methodology and thought process.

If you've read The Anatomy of a Solo Meal, you'll see that I am an impatient person, and enjoyment of eating to me is part convenience, part familiarity and part flavours. In a meal shared by two, familiarity is building a culture between two people, not nostalgia from a singular timeline. A process that's relatively dynamic.

With Jo, I like our chemistry so much so I fall in love with food deeply. Jo indulges my every craving, and that is usually the starting point of how we choose what we eat. Especially at the start of our relationship. And if I were to romanticize it, our (women's) bodies are so in tune with the universe, the signs are there to tell you what gives you joy, if you would just listen (give yourself 10 seconds, breathe in and out and let your brain relax). And we give attention to the food, flavours, and each other. Even as we frequent our favourite pizza place for the 10th time, it deserves its time and place. It is after all, just fifteen minutes. Choose food that you like. It's simpler said than done, but if you were to be frank with yourself, it can be done.

I also came to the realization that not everyone loves food, and that some live to eat, and some eat to live.

Which one are you?
