Ode to Calmness

The non-oddity to life is time, and the only oddity is memory. I am endlessly fascinated by how our bodies interact with time, space, dreams, memories; and the tangibles that we can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. Perhaps that's why I am drawn to the heart sutra, it is one that brings me calm.

When it comes to religion, I believe we gravitate towards what explains the unknown the best to us. Hence, I don't subscribe to a specific school of thought, but elements of it wherever it may apply or answer the intangibles. Hence, I am a 'free thinker', although it may be more like: I am blessed to let my mind wander without any boundaries.

We visited the Hiroshi Sugimoto: Form Is Emptiness exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM), and it enveloped me with so much calm that I felt inspired to write. Out of all the emotions, I've become accustomed to stop chasing excitement and joys, and feel that peace and equilibrium is what I would like.

For someone who has studied museum placements, the exhibition is genius. The monochrome alleys, the central mandala, the artwork, the play of the elements of light, photography, paper all at once communicates without the artist being present.

If you're thinking to go, don't google for the images or what's in the museum. Aside from the pièce de résistance heart sutra which is in itself more breathtaking in person than I imagined, the rest of it deserves to be seen first in person.
